Bible Journal – Psalm 23

If you want to hear the Lord speak to you – read His word <the Bible>, daily…  Bible Journal Psalm 23

Psalm 23-

Psalm 23

Scripture:

A Psalm of David – The Lord is my shepherd; I shall not want.  He makes me lie down in green pastures.  He leads me beside still waters.  He restores my soul.  He leads me in paths of righteousness for his name’s sake.  Even though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death, I will fear no evil, for you are with me; your rod and your staff, they comfort me.  You prepare a table before me in the presence of my enemies; you anoint my head with oil; my cup overflows.  Surely goodness and mercy shall follow me all the days of my life, and I shall dwell in the house of the Lord forever.  Psalm 23

This passage has been close to my heart my entire life.  I suggest you memorize it and take it with you wherever you go.  David’s Psalm reminds you that the Lord, our shepherd, leads us down the right paths, restoring us when needed.  You can know that when you are in those dark times, that there is nothing to be afraid of, because he is always there.  Then on those good days, drink from the saucer because your cup overflows.  You can dwell in the house of the Lord forever once you have accepted his gift and asked him to come into your heart.  Accept that he is Lord.  Believe that he exists. And lastly, Commit your life to him.  You will know you got it when your life shows a change.

My Technique:

Insert a piece of cardstock behind the page you are working on.  This keeps the pages behind it nice and tidy.

Draw your pattern in the journaling column on the same page as your scripture.  You can trace a free downloadable pattern also.  Trace or draw with a pencil.  Download the free pattern from my resource library.  (get the password to the library in the form at the bottom of this post)!

You can also use word, pages, or canva to print out your verse in different fonts.

Next, use your micron pen in black or any other color, and trace your pencil markings.

After that, you need to erase the pencil marks.  Be very cautious not to tear or crumple the page.

At this point, you are ready to color in your design with your colored pencils.  I found that the prismacolors are the very best ones to use.  They make for a much smoother look because they have a soft core.  To get a more colorful look, get the bigger pack with more varieties of color. The 72 pack includes a gold and a silver, but the smaller pack will suffice.

For example, on a leaf, use a lighter green, then transition to a darker green.

A blending pencil is a great tool to blend your colors together.

In Conclusion:

Contemplate on God’s Word and what He is trying to tell you, or how He is trying to comfort you, or what direction He is leading you in, all while you are coloring.

Coloring is very therapeutic and calming.  Do not try to be perfect.  This is YOUR WORK OF ART.  Glorify God with it.
