Homemade Baby Wipes
I found a few recipes for homemade baby wipes on pinterest. There are several variations, but this is my spin on the recipe and instructions.
Things you need:
- Bounty paper towels
- Coconut oil
- Baby Shampoo (I prefer Burt’s Bees wash and and shampoo combo)
- water
- bread knife
- container
First, cut the roll of paper towels in half using a bread knife and place the half in an appropriately sized container. I used an old coffee can.
For a cuter container, you can cover the coffee can with fabric the same way as instructed in the fabric covered box tutorial.
Secondly, melt a tablespoon of coconut oil in the microwave. Then fill the same container with warm water (about a cup and a half).
Squirt about 5 pumps of baby shampoo into your water/coconut oil mixture and stir. No need to stir too vigorously, or the mixture will foam.
Next, pour the mixture evenly over the paper towel half. Let this sit with the lid off for about an hour.
Finally, pull the cardboard out of the center of the roll. Most of the time this will have the inner towel attached, which you can pull out in order to start your roll of wipes.
Done! This is an easy way to ALWAYS have wipes on hand. The coconut oil keeps baby’s bum nice and moisturized while the wash cleans away the yuck. If the wipes dry out any, you can always add a bit more water.
