Horse Embroidery on Pillow

Horse Embroidery on Pillow

I absolutely loved this design that I found on Embroidery Library, so I set out to add this horse embroidery on a pillow.

Embroidery Library is a great place to find digitized designs. They have always sewed off beautifully. You will really like their designs.

I had a certain girl in mind who is going to college and minoring in Equine. It’s not wonder that I immediately thought of her when I saw this one.

Therefore, I wanted to add it to a pillow for her new home, and stuff a little money in for her graduation gift. Crossing my fingers that she likes it.

First of all

Download your design. I put mine on a USB because that’s what my embroidery machine will take. I have a Brother.

Make sure you have a hoop big enough to fit the design. I used an 8″ x 8″.

Hooping for Embroidery

You need a heavy weight cut away stabilizer. Mine needed to be wider, but I was on a time crunch. I ended up floating another layer underneath to avoid puckers.

I find it easier to hoop if you will put double sided basting tape on the back side of the inner hoop. Tear the paper backing off. Put your guide inside of the top hoop. Mark the center on the fabric and place the hoop on and press it down with your hands.

Take the inner hoop with the fabric attached and the stabilizer and hoop it into the outer ring of the hoop. Tighten the screw. Pull the wrinkles out.

Embroidery Hoop

Attach to the machine and start your embroidery. Y’all, this design took a loooonnnnggg time. It had a lot of stitches.

Conclusion

After the design has finished, unhoop it.

Cut away the cut away stabilizer on the back. I used my duckbill scissors. You can use embroidery curved scissors also.

Cut away Stabilizer on Embroidery

I made an 18″ x 18″ envelope pillow to put my design on. I have a post about how to make an envelope pillow here! So easy

The finished product.
