How to make a honeymoon fund jar

As soon as you get engaged, you need to start saving money, even if it is a little bit at a time.  Here are quick and easy directions on how to make a honeymoon fund jar.

First things first, buy a big bottle of wine.  Invite a few friends over and drink up.  This might be the funnest part.  Yee Haw!

Now that you are feeling no pain, wash the jug.

First

Print out a label with the font you are going to use for your wedding invitations.

Print it out on a rustic paper. (affiliate link).  Now, cut it out in any shape that you prefer.

Second

Glue the print out to the jar.  Get it centered.  Use mod podge (affiliate link) to glue it on the jar.  Use a roller to smooth it out and get all the bubbles out.  Paint some on the outside of the sign to seal it.

Let it dry overnight.

Third

To finish it up, tie a ribbon on the handle.  You can also use jute (affiliate link) to tie a bow.

Lastly

To fill it up, add to it often with your loose change from your pocket or the bottom of your purse.  If your honeymoon is going to be a little more extravagant, add some dollar bills.  It will add up faster than you realize.

I’ve read a lot of comments that it is distasteful to display this at your reception.

So for a different spin, at the reception, after the father/daughter dance and the mother/son dance – have the best man pull out the jug and announce dollar dances.

Anyone that wants to dance with the bride or the groom, can put a dollar in the jug for a dance.  Have the best man collect the money.  I’ve seen couples collect over $600 doing this.  (Most people will put more than $1)  And best man – don’t keep them waiting, let them cut in.  You can cycle in 3-4 people during one song.  Just takes a tap on the shoulder.

No pressure on anybody, just have fun!!!
