How to Make a Luggage Tag
My daughter and son-in-law are getting the chance to take their kids to Disney World. This gave me an opportunity to show you how to make a luggage tag. I am so stinkin’ excited for my grandkids. I jumped at the chance to make them something.
These luggage tags go together quick and easy. Make one with me. Ready??
How to make a luggage tag – Cutting

(The video will help you create your own pattern – Watch it below)
Cut out 2 pieces of heavy interfacing the same size.
One vinyl with tissue still attached 2 3/8″ x 3 3/4″.
Cut a piece of 1/4″ elastic to 8 1/2″ long.
Press
Press the interfacing to each fabric piece.
How to Make a Luggage Tag – Putting it together…
Fold elastic in half and clip or pin raw edges to top of tag. Center it.

With right sides together, sew 1/4″ around tag, leaving 1 1/2″ open at the bottom, reversing several times when sewing over the elastic.

Trim the sides to 1/8″. Clip all the corners.

Turn right side out through the opening. Poke all edges out. I use “that purple thang” tool.
Press, pressing in the 1/4″ opening at the bottom.
Topstitch 1/8″ from all edges, all the way around, going back and forth over the elastic.
Place vinyl on back. Clip together. Put the tissue over vinyl and sew 1/4″ from the edge of tag, on the sides and the bottom. Leave the top open to slide your card in. The tissue helps it go through the machine better.
Back:

Peel off the tissue paper.

In conclusion, learning how to make a luggage tag is one of the fastest projects you can whip out. Way to go! I knew you could do it!

I jumped in Canva, which you can get a free trial, and created the cards with their name and address. Download it after designed and print on cardstock so it will be sturdier.
